Yes, I am pregnant! - UPDATED

Here's the promised belly shot ... I even "bared" the belly this time :)

Glucose Tolerance Test Results: I didn't hear from the doctor's office today, so I am assuming, "No news is good news."
Thank you for all the encouraging comments. And note to the world, it is not appropriate to comment on the size of a pregnant lady. The next person who - unsolicited - offers an opinion on my belly size is going to hear the truth about the size of his/her ass ... boo-yah!
Post from earlier today:
In case you didn't hear ... yes, I am pregnant. Actually, I've been "at" this whole baby-growing thing for about 7 months now. I am expecting a baby in December ... just three months to go!

Apparently the acquaintances I run into and the strangers I meet have a differing opinion. Why I let their opinions count is beyond me, but I can't tell you the number of times I've heard ...

"Oh, you don't even look pregnant."
"Gosh, how far along are you? You don't look any bigger than three months!"
"Your belly is just so tiny. It must be all baby."

I know some of you are thinking those are flattering things to hear, but it is really starting to irk me ... because I am, in deed, pregnant. 28+ weeks pregnant. For some reason those comments make me feel like I am doing something wrong. Or there's something wrong with the baby growing inside me. Those comments have me pacing the floor until next Monday when I have (yet another) ultrasound with measurements of the baby.

I am so excited to be pregnant. To be growing a baby inside me.

Just yesterday, a total salesperson at a store actually uttered - quite sincerely - the comment that completely baffles me, "Oh, you don't even look pregnant." Is that a nice thing to say to a pregnant woman?! Is that complimentary? In my book, no, not really. Because I AM pregnant. I am either pregnant or smuggling some goods out of your store!

And so, for your entertainment and my reassurance ... ways that I know I am pregnant.

  1. Nether regions can no longer be seen (or tended to) without the assistance of a properly placed mirror. (Supah & Chitown Momma, I know exactly what you're thinking! And you're right!)

  2. Tying my shoes is a contortion act. (NHV is still wearing her Crocs because she can put them on herself ... one less contortion required.)

  3. Sleeping is a choreographed dance of rolling from my right side to my left side and repositioning the pillow between my legs.

  4. I accidentally put on a non-maternity shirt the other day and just about died laughing ... that amount of exposed pasty-white belly is illegal in at least 45 states!

  5. My rack is quite fabulous ... like two cups larger than normal. That has something to do with pregnancy, right?!

  6. Everything I eat inspires some amount of heartburn ... even the water I am drinking now ... or maybe it was the peanut butter toast and bananas.

  7. There's a break dance session in my belly several times a day ... and I LOVE it!

  8. I talk with my hands a lot less than usual because my hands are constantly on my belly ... holding it, rubbing it, waiting for a contraction to pass, ...

  9. Contractions ... for the past six weeks.

  10. I've made two trips to the bathroom in the time it's taken me to type this list of 10!

Thanks for humoring my pregnant-lady rant today.

I'll update with a belly shot ... to provide visual proof of my baby bump. And I should have GTT results in the next few hours ... please let it be negative!

Be careful what you wish for...

I once had someone say I didn't even look pregant, at about the same stage you are, and a woman behind her I did not even know said...

You sure look BIG ENOUGH to me.

pfft...

Our society is so wrapped up in this frenzy to be skinny that everyone thinks we DON'T want to LOOK preggers when we are. DUH!??!? I can TOTALLY let it all hang out pregnant, I WANT the belly to protrude, I DON'T have to suck it in! I'm with you girl, I WANTED to look preggers!!! Can't wait for the belly shot, and I hope BV 2.0 cooperates so we can hit the punkin patch in a couple of weeks! Can't wait to see you and Natalie!

I believe you even though I haven't seen you.

Why do people feel the need to comment about everything?

Heard it through both my pregnancies too. Up to 9 months...but then my principal told me one day "Man, you are getting fat." Hmmmm.
Cool though how you are probably able to see the little knobby knees bulging out of your belly now while she is moving..or is it too soon for that? Love it D- you are perfect!

I had people say that to me when I was pregnant with my son. Then I'd turn around and watch their jaw hit the floor! My belly was big, but I am not. Not a good mix!

I don't understand why people are afraid to say you look pregnant. It's not offensive - you are!

By the way, slip-on shoes rock for pregnant ladies =)

I've learned to just not ask anyone if they are pregnant or comment on their size. I've been there and it hurts. Some people don't realize that though. As long as your doctor says you're doing fine then don't you worry about it.

I so with you on those comments. So if I don't look pregnant, you're saying I just look fat? Because I KNOW I've got more junk in my trunk than usual.

I am actually relieved when someone asks me if I'm pregnant. That proves that at least someone gets the belly is more than an overindulgent weekend. Can't wait to see a new picture!

As you know, I am measuring small (I think I told you they are having me go for another ultrasound because I am 3-4 weeks behind now on growth). Did I tell you what my MIL said the other day after not seeing me for two months??? Even if I did, I am going to tell you again...."You are measuring small? You look huge to me!" Was that a nice thing to say to a pregnant woman?? How about, "You are glowing!" or "You look adorable, look at that cute little baby bump." People really need to take classes on tact!

Okay, you know me. I'm not petite or slender, but I had someone tell me when I was about 34/35 weeks that I didn't look pregnant. You saw me then, there was no doubt about it! I mean, the woman was almost arguing with me about if I was pregnant or not. Maybe people are just crazy. Oh wait, yep, that's it! People are crazy.

Although my favorite question to ask Andy when I was just starting to show was "does this make me look pregnant or just fat?" And it wasn't a loaded question! If I looked pregnant, good, if I just looked fat, I'd find something else to wear!

I just don't get why people think they can say the things they do to a pregnant person!

Hope the last trimester treats you well. :)

Ugh. After trying so hard to get pregnant, this was the very last thing I wanted to hear, and I got it constantly right up until the last month, when I started hearing, "My God, you're HUGE!" I'm with everyone else: why comment on a pregnant lady's size?? Just say, "You look great!" or "I hope you're feeling as well as you look!"

And since I just saw you recently, I can say with conviction that you look adorably pregnant. :-)

i got asked "are you having twins?" when I was only 6 months! so, I'd take your comment over mine. But any comment is really not needed! Why do people feel the need to say dumb things to pregnant women. I had so many women tell me their horrible birth stories during my last month...not what I wanted to hear!

So anyone who knows you and your tiny little body, will certainly be able to say that you are INDEED preggers! Look at that lovely baby belly you are sporting!!! I just want to rub it...another crazy thing strangers do! And the fact that you have a booty to shake...another telltale sign!
And just wait, I too was one of those "Skinny Bitches" for quite a while when I was pregnant, but towards the end I believe your husband started calling me huge! (which was better than my husband who was calling me a whale as a term of affection! hmmmm)

Ok, no comments on size. Can I just say that you look great? By the end of my pregnancy I felt like I was the size of a small village (could have been worse - could have been a large village...). I certainly was EATING enough to support a small village. Your size seems just perfect.

Awwwwwww, that's the cutest baby bump! I carried Oliver so high, right under my ribs, that I never got that cute hip level bump you're sporting. I'm jealous!!!! Give BV 2.0 a pat from us.

Love the picture. You're adorable.
People always feel the need to comment about everything. I had a coworker say he didn't really think I was pregnant, but that I just really like pasta. Nice, eh?

One last thought on size. I have a really long torso, so I think my baby has a little more room than some other woman, perhaps making me look smaller. Who knows. Some people say I look huge and other give the "I can't even tell" comment. I just ignore them all.

You look great! Hope things are going well.

supahmommy- somethin's wrong with that girl said...

lol- anyone - who knows the divine miss v... knows - you is preggers.

you'RE tiny wasted to begin with.... i remember a certain punkin patch trip and a chain of pumpkin links... that totalled like 3 .. round your belly.

You're perfecty proportionate to your size.

DOnt' get down; AND DO NOT WORRY about this.

BABY IS FINE. Toasting properly.

I tried posting before, but for some reason, blogger was being naughty.
I never really got this "issue" becasue I WAS HUGE! But a friend of mine got this a lot and she was so upset about it. Now I never...NEVER say "you don't look pregnant" to ANYONE!
I think part of it is us BIG GIRLS are just jealous...okay, well, maybe that's just me...
