Wish to be Better

I wish I was better at ...
making the bed in the morning
being a morning person
getting to bed on time (I blame the blogs!)
giving my husband my full attention
kissing my husband (like I mean it) each and every day

I wish I was better at ...
replacing the paper rolls when they're empty
hanging up clean clothes
getting stuff done during the day
delegating and asking for/accepting help
using NHV's naptime to its fullest potential

I wish I was better at ...
writing down the ideas I have before falling asleep
reading just for pleasure
passing along magazines after I've read them
returning library books on time

I wish I was better at ...
making sure there's milk in the fridge
having a list ready for the grocery store
avoiding impulse purchases of inexpensive items
unloading the dishwasher in the morning (not during dinnertime)
prepping dinner ahead of time

I wish I was better at ...
keeping in touch with my siblings
calling on some one's birthday; I remember but forget to call
answering my phone when it rings
replying to emails instead of just reading them
deleting emails from my inbox

I wish I was better at ...
spending a few minutes on my hair (ponytail is the norm)
knowing how to apply make-up
getting rid of clothes I no longer wear
buying clothes that will last even if they cost more

I wish I was better at ...
resisting fast food and junk food
understanding finances (ignorance is bliss)
thinking long-term rather than instant gratification
making decisions

I wish I was better at ...
staying motivated and focused
keeping my expectations realistic
having a long-term plan
following my dreams

Me too on so many of those, but not kissing Chad! :)

One thing I've found helpful for the grocery stuff is to have a magnetic note pad on the fridge. When we run out of something or I realize I need it, I write it on the list! Now to get in a better habit of taking the list with me! :)

Wow lady, what inspired this list? You make me want to examine what I wish as well. A very dear girlfriend of mine stopped by the house tonight, and we were both "out of sorts" at the moment. Thanks for a timely post that I'll be mulling over tomorrow. Hugs, Carrie

All these things make you the wonderful person you are.... I wish I was better at many things...but I (and you) have to remember all the things that make you great.

I wish I was better at all those things too. but would that mean I would suck at other things I usually do well?

I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a '64 Impala

sorry - reading your blog reminded me of that old skool song :)

anyhow ... sounds like you and me - we're in the same boat. I wish I was just better. :) oh well. what you see is what you get. good 'nuff for the government.

I wish I was better at knowing what my faults are .... I guess ignorance is bliss!! My excuse is that I definately delivered half my brain with my first child and the other half with my second. Here's my theory on housework: I often pick up the cleaning cloth and the Vim and then realize that I might be denying my kids the opportunity to experience and develop an immunity to a germ!! So I do my part for my kids and keep the house dirty. That's my theory and it really works for me!! Ralph wishes I didn't have that theory!!

I love your "I Wish" list! I think all mom's, especially, have these kinds of lists. If you thought it through, you do SO much more than you think, even though your own expectations are high for achievement. I can say that, because I totally understand! I think you are doing some great strides, even with things like your meal planning! Those little steps are huge! Thanks for sharing such great insight about where you're at. Makes me not feel so alone in those types of thoughts :-)
