Fashion MEmestakes

with SupahMommy and MommyBrain!

We are at it again - SupahMommy and MommyBrain doling out another super fabulous All About MEme Monday. Our domination of the entire blog world is making some serious progress, dontcha think? ;) I mean, we even have a sort-of-button to go along with our weekly MEme - this is the big time, peeps!

I am so excited to see some of last week's entries join us again - you all are so good at this, and I can't wait to see who else plays along!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, did I have a good time with this one! Looking through the old photo box ... what a hoot! The fashion mistakes are numerous and awful, but I think I've learned my lesson. I also realized that I was pretty darn cute in college ... where did those years go? How do I get the youthful glow and confidence back again? Something else I noticed ... I always look best in photos when I am standing next to my husband; I think that's because he makes me so happy and it shows :)

Anyhoo, here are my 5 Fashion MEmestakes, I hope to never make again ... in order from most offensive ... to almost cute ... and I threw in a few photos, too!

  1. Asymmetrical Haircut ... with a perm - What the heck was I thinking? The original cut was actually much longer on the right side. I think this photo was taken after I made efforts to fix my mistake ... HA! Ugh! Look at that wave thingy on the left side? I styled it like that, seriously? It was just bad and the last perm I ever got!

  2. Huge, Bulky Sweaters (and turtlenecks) - see above photo. That sweater is just hideous, and it's one of many in my ugly sweaters from MS/HS collection - none of which I own anymore, thank you very much! And why size huge? To enable the layer over a turtleneck, or course ... so flattering! (Notice the add-a-bead necklace, too!) Oh, I cropped my friend out of this picture because - this is my personal humiliation - but her sweater is equally awful, which made me feel slightly better because I always consider her fashionable.

  3. XL Flannel Shirts ... tied around my waist ... and high-cut, light-washed jeans - Okay, so this photo is adorable, but I am still trying to figure out where this trend began - it was clearly widespread. Why did I go along with it at a time in my life when I actually had a cute little shape to show-off? Now my arse could use a drape of plaid to camouflage it a bit, but then ... what was I thinking?

  4. Layered Socks - I am sorry I couldn't find a photo of this super cool look, but I remember this as a fashion mistake more because it pissed off my dad. He was all like, "Why are you making more dirty laundry for your mom to wash? Can't you wear just one pair of socks at a time?" In fact, he insisted that I stop wearing two pairs of socks at a time. In response to my devastation, my mom bought me a few pairs of socks that "looked" like they were layered but just one pair.

  5. Shawl as a Skirt - Clearly, this would be a fashion mistake if I were older ... but really, I just wanted to show off this cute photo of me at the ripe young age of about 3 years old. I was playing dress-up with my older cousin and then walking the runway for my entire family. This style scored me lots of "oooohs and aaaaahs."

Seeing your shawl picture, I totally think NHV looks like you. So adorable.
And, I committed all of those crimes too. Did you wear your double socks with Reeboks or LA Gear? Remember the shoes with the double tongue?

I'm with Debby, I keep coming back for a good laugh! I love that you can laugh at yourself and put that pic up for all to see!!! It is just so entertaining. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I have plenty out there just as horrific! But alas, I don't have a blog to provide a venue for my public humiliation! So sad!

Wow, I never would have guessed. I've never seen you look less than fabulous! :) The first pic is awesome! That's in the category of using it for your high school reunion to show how far you've come!
